From a woman who suffered 80% burns caught in the horror of the aircrafts crashing into the twin towers and the Pentagon September 11th 2001

"I've learnt to give myself a break. Never let up - Never stop reaching forward... but do it with patience.
What I've realised is: It's OK to dwell in the moment and... just soak it in, feel the happiness."

Just for Today...

1
Just for Today I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle all my problems at once. I can do something for twelve hours that would appall me if I felt that I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

2
Just For Today I will be happy. This assumes to be true what Abraham Lincoln said, that "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be."

3
Just for Today I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my "luck" as it comes, and fit myself to it.

4
Just for Today I will try to strengthen my mind. I will study. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

5
Just for Today I will exercize my soul in three ways: I will do somebody a good turn, and not get found out; if somebody knows of it, it will not count. I will do at least two things I don't want to - just for exercize. I will not show anyone that my feelings are hurt; they may be hurt, but today I will not show it.

6
Just for today I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress becomingly, keep my voice low, be courteous, criticise not one bit. I won't find fault with anything, nor try to improve or regulate anybody but myself.

7
Just for Today I will have a programme. I will not follow it exactly, but I will have it. I will save myself from two pests: hurry and indecision.

8
Just for Today I will have a quiet half hour just by myself, and relax. During this half hour, sometime, I will try to get a better perspective on my life.

9
Just for Today I will be unafraid. Especially I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful, and to believe that as I give to the world, so the world will give to me.

Thank you - 12 Step Programme

Lord, Make Me an Instrument...

Lord make me an instrument of Thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O, Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

My Ten Worders

I’ll go where you want me to go, dear Lord.
I’ll do what you want me to do, dear Lord.
I’ll be what you want me to be, dear Lord.

My Seven Worders

I can do this for today.
Where there's a problem, there's a solution.
Alright Heavenly Father! I will do this!

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

My Six Worders

I’m top of my cheering team.
I’m part of your cheering section.
Trust not the arm of flesh.
There is a time to weep.
There is a time to mourn.
Take the time to get “nice.”

(From Coral Elks)
Be part of the building team… (Not the wrecking crew.)

This is better than I hoped.
My life is all a Test.
My life is only a test.

My Five Worders

You are brilliant Heavenly Father!
The Lord is my shepherd.
I seek after these things.

Thank you for telling me.

This is hard for me.
I can do hard things.
I can do all things…

One day at a time.
Live in day-tight compartments.
We’ll get through this - together.

I am going to die.

Be an influence for good.

(Sometimes this five-worder is indeed true)
This is not my fault.

(From Pam Robinson)
This is not your fault.
This is all about him/her/you.

(From Wendy de Kock)
This is a Big Deal.

More faith in my Saviour.
More used would I be.
This is only a Test.
Get thee behind me Satan.
Why do you say that?
Why did I say that?
Give yourself what you need.

My Four Worders

Look for the ‘fun.’
Look for the ‘function.’
It’s not too late.
It’s never too late…
Fair, Firm and Friendly.
You can do it.
You can do this.
I can do this.
I can do it.
I can survive this.
I will survive this.
I’ll get through today.
This too shall pass.
I am being polished.
I am being refined.

This is my life.
This is my life.
This is my life.
This is my life.

More holiness give me.
More strength to oer’come.
More patience in suffering.
More sorrow for sin…
More blessed and holy.
More Saviour like Thee.

This is a miracle.
I’ll get through this.
We’ll get through this.
Most others don’t care.
Most others don’t listen.
Walk through this valley.
Do what you can.
More is nog ‘n dag.
Time to close ranks.
I’ll think about it.
‘Time out’ of Time.
Mind my own business. (Take care of my own stewardship)

Do something extraordinary today.
Look for the sparkles.
It's only a Test.
See and be seen.
Keep it simple sister.
Is this that important?
This works for me.
Life is hard sometimes.
The Law of Compensation.
What am I learning?
What is the gift?
Do what needs doing.
Come to your senses...

My Three Worders

(The 12 most important words in the world – in threes – a talk given years ago)
I was/am wrong.
I am sorry.
Please forgive me.
I love You.

(The “three most important words” said someone else)
This is it.

(A little nine year old said these words easily and frequently)
Deal with it.

(Douglas gave a talk about these “three most important words” once)
Get over it.

(Elvis said these words. This helps me “sift and save” from others and myself, for myself.)
Love me tender.
Love me true.

(Pete says)
Life is good.

(Dr Phil says)
Take your time.

(I remind myself)
One is faithful.
Come unto Me.

(On priorities)
Faith, Family, Friends.

(Indeed)
This will pass.

(Of all places! From “The Bold and the Beautiful” – I hardly ever watch - maybe once a year?!)
Relish and cherish.

(Robin Williams said in the movie “Dead Poets Society”)
Seize the day!

(From Alcoholics Anonymous)
Just for Today.

(From Joyce Meyer)
Enjoy Everyday Life.

From Garry K Moore)
Correlate. Reduce. Simplify.

Here it is!
Life takes time.
Do it - now.
Tell me more.
No thank you.
I’m a believer.
Miracles do happen.
I’m all yours.
Here I am.
Make a difference.
Full of Grace.
Grace and Dignity.
Grace and Truth.
Light and Life.
It's a Test.
Get with it.
Sift and Save.
Be a Hero.

My Two Worders

Thank you.
Get real.
Go Away.
Life happens.
Think Pink.
Go peacefully.
Savour this.
Not now.
Maybe later.
It’s time.
Do it.
Keep going.
Sparkling Moment.
Be creative.
Believe it.
Bring Light
Bring Life.
Get it.
Wake up.
Grow up.
What if...?
Move on.
So what?
Calm down.
Find out.
That's it.
That's rude.
How rude.

Relax!

One of the unpleasant facts of life is that we do not give ourselves enough time to relax and build up some energy to go on with.
The good news is that we do not have to take hours to relax and re-vitalize.

Here are some easy-to-follow and rewarding tips:

When your leg muscles feel fatigued: lie down and put your feet up against a wall.
Rest there for five to ten minutes.

Lie on your back with your hands on top of your stomach.
Close your eyes. Breathe slowly.
After you have repeated the breathing seven to ten times, rest your arms at your sides and enjoy the relaxation filling your body.

Take a cat-nap when you feel very tired.
Allow yourself the time it takes - afterwards you will be able to work so much better.
Start your siesta with a little aromatherapy: choose woody scents.

Clear your mind. Remove your clutter. Start with your anger...
Imagine you have a "delete" and a "rewind" button in your brain.
When you have a negative thought, press your "delete" button.
"Rewind." Re-think the matter in a more positive light.
Finish your mental "Time Out" with a positive day-dream.

Daughters of God - Angels

Hymn 309

As sisters in Zion, we'll all work together;
The blessings of God on our labors we'll seek.
We'll build up his kingdom with earnest endeavor;
We'll comfort the weary and strengthen the weak.

2. The errand of angels is given to women;
And this is a gift that, as sisters, we claim:
To do whatsoever is gentle and human,
To cheer and to bless in humanity's name.

3. How vast is our purpose, how broad is our mission,
If we but fulfil it in spirit and deed.
Oh, naught but the Spirit's divinest tuition
Can give us the wisdom to truly succeed.

Text: Emily H Woodmansee
Music: Janice Kapp Perry

Remember...

Remember the Dignity of Sacrifice,
The Holiness of Service and
The Power of Righteousness.

We can be Joyful, Peaceful and Powerful
as we Sacrifice in dignity, Serve in holiness and

are Righteously powerful women -
Being Who we were Created by God to Be.

"It may not be on the mountain height
Or over the stormy sea,
It may not be at the battle's front
My Lord will have need of me.
But if, by a still, small voice He calls
To paths that I do not know,
I'll answer dear Lord with my hand in thine;
I'll go where you want me to go.

Perhaps today there are loving words
Which Jesus would have me speak;
There may be now in the paths of sin
Some wanderer whom I should seek.
O Saviour, if thou wilt be my guide,
Tho dark and rugged the way,
My voice shall echo the message sweet:
I'll say what you want me to say.

There's surely somewhere a lowly place
In earth's harvest fields so wide
Where I may labor through life's short day
For Jesus the crucified.
So trusting my all to thy tender care
And knowing thou lovest me,
I'll do thy will with a heart sincere:
I'll be what you want me to be.

I'll go where you want me to go, dear Lord,
Over mountain or plain or sea;
I'll say what you want me to say, dear Lord;
I'll be what you want me to be.

Words: Mary Brown 1856 - 1918
Hymn 270
